Reynolds Road and Birrarung

A scenic walk off the end of Reynolds Road, and learning about Eltham’s architectural history.

The walk is accessed from the end of Reynolds Road where it heads towards the Yarra River. Walk down the road past the gate and down the hill. About 400m from the gate there’s a path to the left with gate posts but no gate. Continuing on Killeavy homestead site will be reached.

Continue on along the dirt track and a junction is reached. Take the left fork and Laughing Waters road is reached. Walk along the road until the Birrarung signage is reached.

Walk up the driveway to the house. Approach with caution as it may be occupied.

Birrarung

Built and landscaped by Gordon Ford, a renowned landscaper. The garden is noted for its usage of large rocks, a notable feature of Gordon Ford’s work.

It was last occupied in 2015 and Nillumbik Council has been actively seeking an artist in residence.
