It’s interesting there are two authors to the title, and I wonder if Clive Cussler really did write the novel, or was he lending his name to a colleague’s work for publicity purposes? The novel isn’t that complex, so I find it hard to believe that it took two authors to write it.
The story is interesting with a link to ancient times and a treachery with stolen treasure, and this plays a part in the mildly interesting twist towards the end of the novel.
The action sequences are an engaging read, and they wouldn’t be out of place in a James Bond film. At the start there’s a useful list of characters and which group of villains and heroes they belong to.
When our heroes are abseiling down a cliff they make use of the Texan rope trick, which allows the top part of the rope to be released from the bottom; allowing the next stage of the descent to be done. And doing a Google search it’s a real climbing technique that’s intriguing to learn how it works.
Conclusion
It was a good way to pass the time whilst travelling, but I probably won’t read anymore Cussler novels as I found it to be too much of a cliche of the fiction adventure/action genre, with the usual extraordinary talents of the characters and the equally implausible situations they find themselves in.

Their search takes them across multiple countries, from Mediterranean ruins to remote archaeological sites, where they piece together ancient riddles and historical fragments.
As they close in on the treasure, they realize Arzbek is also pursuing it. He sees the discovery not only as a path to unimaginable wealth but as a chance to settle his old score with Remi. The Fargos must outwit his network of mercenaries, survive ambushes, decode centuries‑old secrets, and stay one step ahead of a man who will stop at nothing.
The climax pits the Fargos against Arzbek in a race to the final location of the treasure—where the truth behind the Poseidon legend is revealed. The novel ends with the Fargos thwarting Arzbek’s plans and securing the treasure, closing the loop on Remi’s past and reaffirming the couple’s trademark blend of courage, cleverness, and partnership.
