Clifford Dve and Bend of Isles, Warrandyte State Park

An excellent two to three hour walk near Clifford Dve and Bend of Isles, Warrandyte State Park.

I got onto this walk from the Eltham Environs Walking Group and it proved to be a gem. The website is currently undergoing changes so the description is listed here.

The walk is easy with few steep grades. The tracks are wide and easy to follow as they are probably made for vehicles.

The route is not a loop as you return the way you came. We returned via the river end of the Scout Camp to make it a bit more interesting.

Walk Description

From the Eltham Environs Walking Group. Walk 40M

Commences at the gate of the Clifford Park Scout Activity Centre, at the end of Clifford Dve, Wonga Park. Access is via Jumping Creek, Dudley and Fulford Rds.

Walk back down Clifford Dve for 100m. Turn right, and pass through the barrier gate into Warrandyte State Park. Continue along the track, then veer left onto Market Garden Track. When the track divides, veer right onto a dirt track. This is called both Market Garden Track and Bridle Trail.

Continue on this, passing a track to the Scout Centre on the right. At the base of a long incline, a group of bay trees is on the right; a very short detour on the right provides a view of the rapids, near Bend of Isles. At this point, the trail loops back on itself.

Follow the signs for the Bridle Trail until an open gate, and an open paddock is reached (about 1.2km). This is the turn-around point. Retrace your steps back to the starting point.
