The now defunct South Gippsland Railway has some beautiful scenery. It can now be appreciated from the rail trail.
Way back in 1996 we went on a short trip from Leongatha to Korumburra. The scenery along the line is beautiful, but it appears that the line will never run again since closing in early 2016. As of 2017 the goods yard at Leongatha has been earmarked for a shopping centre car park.
There were hopes that the Leongatha line would be connected to the main network, but the cost of redoing the bridge at Cranbourne is too high. The rails have now been removed and it’s scenic rail trail.
