Tasmania 1991

Flying to Tasmania and self driving with an excellent rental car. This was a two week trip taking in most of the sights around on both the east and western coasts of Tasmania.

Highlights included Port Arthur where we did a ghost tour and a cruise on the Franklin River at Strahn. The ghost tour was well worth doing. What I loved about it most was the atmosphere of the place; helped by the seagulls calling out eerily in the night. There has been much misery at Port Arthur and this really helped you believe there were ghosts here.

The rental car, a Nissan Pintara, was a great move. At 2.6l it had plenty of power to cover the Tasmanian terrain.

The photos were taken with an Olympus Trip 35 camera using Fujichrome 100 slide film. The images have changed to a purplish hue and took some work with ACDSee to get the colour better.
