Robert Lee has done a fantastic job researching and writing about the history of the Victorian Railways. In addition to the railways, there are many branches into how society and the politics worked at the time.
Included are many photos and maps illustrating the era being discussed.
It’s interesting to note that the politics of what gets done where and how has not changed much throughout the era.
An excellent read that’s well worth reading over more than once.
